Will my ceremony be conducted in English
Will my ceremony be conducted in English?
This is dependent upon the legalities of the destination in which you are getting married in. For example it's typical that in countries such as Cyprus and the USA the ceremony is conducted completely in English. In places such as Greece and Italy, in order for your wedding to be legally recognised the law requires the registrar to perform the ceremony in the native language (eg Greek and Italian); this will then be spoken in English by a translator for you to understand. If a ceremony must be performed in the local language you cannot change this, as it would invalidate your marriage. However if you are marrying in a country where the ceremony takes place in English but English is not the native language and you wish to incorporate some of the native language in your ceremony this may be possible (for example speaking Greek during a Cypriot wedding ceremony may be possible, with the registar's prior consent)..
